JW Brown Photography offers newborn photography sessions for families across Fairfield County, CT, Westchester County, NY, and the surrounding areas. Based in Ridgefield, CT, right on the border of both counties, I offer two session styles: a professional studio experience in my Ridgefield studio, or an in-home lifestyle session where I come to you. IN YOUR HOME, OR IN MY STUDIO

Every family is different. Some parents love the idea of a polished studio environment with professional lighting, posed setups, and a full wardrobe of newborn outfits and props. Others feel most themselves at home, surrounded by the nursery they spent months preparing and the everyday details that make their space uniquely theirs. I love both, so I offer both. Unsure of which to choose? Schedule a quick phone call and I can walk you through the options.

“Jessica is absolutely incredible. She truly is a baby whisperer.”

Not only did Jessica make the entire experience feel easy and comfortable for me and my husband (we are both very awkward in front of a camera), but she was so gentle and calming with our newborn and captured the most adorable, heart-melting photos. She even welcomed our dog into the studio so we could do full family photos, which meant the world to us.

Newborn Photography FAQs

  • As early as possible — ideally during your second trimester. Newborn sessions take place in the first 10–14 days after birth, when babies are sleepiest and most easily posed. Because I hold dates for expecting families before baby arrives, booking early is the best way to guarantee availability, especially in busy seasons like spring and fall.

  • Studio newborn sessions take place at my Ridgefield, CT studio with professional lighting, a full selection of props, wraps, outfits, and backdrop options. The result is a classic, timeless newborn gallery. Lifestyle newborn sessions happen in your home, with natural light and your own surroundings as the backdrop — the feel is warmer and more documentary. Both include family and sibling portraits. Not sure which is right for you? That's exactly what a no-pressure phone call is for.

  • I serve families throughout Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY, as well as Putnam and Dutchess County, NY. I'm also happy to travel farther afield — a travel fee applies for locations outside my standard service area. If you're not sure whether you're in range or want to know what a travel fee would look like for your location, just reach out and we'll figure it out together.

  • Studio newborn sessions typically run 2–3 hours. Newborns set the pace and we build in time for feeding, diaper changes, and settling between setups, so there's no rushing. In-home lifestyle newborn sessions are generally 60-90 minutes.

  • Absolutely — and I'd encourage it. Both studio and lifestyle sessions can include family portraits with parents and siblings as part of the experience. These early family photos are often the ones clients treasure most. Pets are also welcome.

  • Life with a newborn is unpredictable — I get it. I hold your date flexibly around your due date and work with you to reschedule if baby arrives significantly earlier or later than expected. We'll sort it out together, and I'll make sure we get your session in that ideal early window.

What to expect from your newborn photography session

Newborn sessions are relaxed, unhurried, and designed around your baby's needs — not a rigid schedule. Whether we're in the studio or your home, I build in plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and settling. Most families arrive a little nervous and leave surprised by how smoothly it went. Both session styles include portraits of your baby as well as family photos with parents and siblings, so you walk away with a full set of images from these very first days together.

“Jessica NAVIGATED TODDLER MELTDOWNS WITH EASE”

We have worked with Jessica for multiple newborn and family shoots, and her photos always come out so amazing. My toddlers have had good shoots and not so great shoots, but Jessica navigated their toddler meltdowns with ease and by some miracle we still got awesome photos that I’ll cherish forever! An annual family shoot with her is a must, and I always recommend her for those precious newborn shoots. She’s the best!

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY INVESTMENT

Newborn sessions start at $700, and most families invest around $1,400, which includes both digital downloads as well as professional print products. Every full session includes a print credit toward a curated collection of archival-quality albums, prints, and wall art, all carefully selected so every option is something worth keeping for generations. For albums, I design yours personally, and you give the final word.

When you book with JW Brown Photography, you're not just paying for photos, you're paying for a calm, unhurried experience with a photographer who knows how to work with newborns, handle the unpredictable, and make the whole thing feel easier than you expected.

I'll walk you through all the options when we chat. There's no pressure, and no obligation to decide anything before you're ready.

How to Book a Newborn Session

Booking is straightforward and there's no pressure at any step — here's what the process looks like:

Step 1: Let's Chat Reach out and we'll schedule a quick phone call to talk through your vision, answer any questions, and figure out whether a studio or lifestyle session is the right fit for your family.

Step 2: Hold Your Date We'll schedule a date based on your due date and confirm the exact day and time once baby arrives. Booking early is the best way to secure your spot — newborn dates fill quickly, especially in spring and fall.

Step 3: Your Session Before your session I'll send a full prep guide so you know exactly what to expect. On the day, we take our time — there's plenty of space built in for feeding, soothing, and everything a newborn needs. Most families are surprised by how relaxed the whole thing feels.
