This is one of the top questions each time I speak to a prospective newborn client. After all, many families know they want newborn pictures, but don’t know exactly what type of session they’re looking for. I’m here to help.
How do we manage to schedule newborn sessions when we don’t know when the baby will be born? It’s easy: We guess, and then adjust.
For this session the baby’s nursery was still in progress (literally delivery men were carrying furniture up the stairs while I was there) and the guest bedroom had better lighting at that time of day than the parents’ primary bedroom. So we rolled with it and pretty much did the entire session in a guest room. And it’s one of my favorites of the year!

Good newborn photographers in Fairfield County and Westchester book up quickly. There are only so many newborn sessions that can be scheduled in a given month, and the families who reach out early are the ones who get their pick of timing. By the time you're in your third trimester, many photographers, myself included, may have limited availability for your due date window.
Booking early also gives us time to do this properly: get to know each other, talk through your vision, and make sure everything is in place well before your due date arrives.
